Apply online

If you prefer, you can apply for jobs at Sonic through their hiring website. If you choose this application method, don't forget to come back and tell us about it so we can provide you with a set of tools you can use to keep your job search organized.

Paper application

Most Sonic restaurants are franchises, and some franchises have their own hiring processes. If you search for a job on Sonic's site and are informed that the store location you're interested in does not accept online applications, you will need to visit the location and grab a paper application instead.

The Sonic Application Process

Before you can apply for a job at Sonic, you will need to create an account on their hiring site. To create an account, you will need to provide your name, email address, phone number, social security number, username, and password.

Once your account is setup, it's time to start the actual application. We highly recommend preparing all of the information that you will need before you start the application. Not only will preparing help you complete it as quickly as possible, but you'll also know that you have everything you need before you begin. This will prevent application timeouts that sometimes occur when you take too long to complete the application.

On the Sonic application you will need to provide your name, address, phone number, email address, date you're available to start, schedule preferences, hours available per week, education, employment history, and professional references.

Assessment

After you complete the application, you will need to take an assessment. The assessment is very long series of questions (more than 200), and it is designed to help Sonic determine if you would make a good fit for their team.

To give you an idea of what to expect, here are a few example questions:

"Getting ahead in life is important."

"I prefer to let others lead in group discussions."

"I believe I have what it takes to be a leader."

Even though it may feel like it at times, these are not trick questions, and you should answer them honestly. However, sometimes you might not know exactly how to answer a particular question. Maybe it's vague, or your response would really depend on details that are not provided to you. In those cases, take a moment to think about why Sonic has chosen to ask that question. What are they trying to learn about you?

As another tip, you should give strong answers as often as possible. Strongly agreeing or strongly disagreeing with a statement is generally better than giving a neutral or weak answer. Remember, Sonic is trying to learn how you definitely feel and what you would definitely do. Not what you might do, or how you might feel. Strong answers will give them a much better idea of the employee that they will be getting.
