The Olive Garden Application Process

The Olive Garden job application process is fairly long, and should take you approximately 45 minutes to complete. Before you start the application, make sure that you will have enough uninterrupted time to work your way through it. For the sake of this application guide, we applied to a line cook job. Though the application is largely the same for all positions, your experience may vary slightly if you're applying for a different position.

Before you can start the application process, you will need register on the Olive Garden hiring site. Registration is easy, and will only take a minute. To create your account, you will need to provide your email address, a password, and an answer to a security question.

The beginning of the application is designed to collect your personal information. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number, email address, education, and work history. Make sure that you provide the correct employment dates for your work history. Inaccurate dates will reflect poorly on you, and can hurt your chances of employment.

You will also have to answer a series of job-related questions that ask about your previous restaurant experience. For example, "Do you have previous full service restaurant experience as a cook/chef?" Just answer these questions honestly -- they're not intended to trick you.

After you complete the questionnaire, you will have the opportunity to upload supporting documents (like your resume and cover letter). If you have your resume and cover letter prepared, you should definitely take advantage of the opportunity to provide them. It can be hard to stand out through a standardized application, and your resume and cover letter are your opportunities to highlight the skills and experiences that have directly prepared you to work at Olive Garden.

Assessment

After you complete the core of the application process, you will need to take an assessment. The assessment is a series of questions that Olive Garden uses to determine if you would make a good fit for their team. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are a few example questions:

"I sometimes get upset for no apparent reason"

"I accomplish the goals that I set for myself."

"Using my own idea of what success means, I have been successful thus far in my life."

Answer each question honestly, and don't shy away from giving strong answers. Remember, Olive Garden is trying to learn about how you 'definitely' feel and how you would 'definitely' act, not how you 'might' act. Giving neutral or weak answers will not do you many favors.

You should answer each question honestly, but sometimes you may find that you don't really have enough information to say for sure how you would act in a specific case. In those instances, just take a moment to think about what Olive Garden is trying to learn about you by asking the question.

How long does Olive Garden keep applications on file?

Olive Garden keeps all applications on file for 30 days. If you have not heard back after 30 days and would like to remain in their consideration, you will need to submit another application.
