Paper application

If you want to apply for a job as a team member, you will need to walk into a Jack in the Box restaurant and request a paper application. Additionally, some locations require team leaders and managers to apply in person, while others require you to fill out an online application. Search the open Jack in the Box jobs or call your local restaurant to find out which application method is preferred for the job you want to have.

The Jack in the Box Application Process

Once you find a position that you would like to apply for, you will need to enter your zip code and search for locations that you would like to work at. You can apply to work at many locations at the same time, which is great if there are multiple Jack in the Box restaurants near your home.

After you select the location(s) that you would like to work at, you will need to register on the Jack in the Box hiring site in order to start the application process. To register, you will need to provide your name, gender, phone number, and social security number.

Once your account is created, it's time to fill out the core of the application. For this section you will need to provide your name, phone number, address, emergency contacts, driver's license number, social security number, scheduling preferences, education, and employment history. We highly recommend preparing all of this information beforehand, as having all of your information ready can greatly reduce the time that you will need to spend filling out the application.

Assessment

After you complete the core of the Jack in the Box application, you will be required to take an assessment. The assessment is a series of questions designed to help Jack in the Box determine if you would make a good fit for their team.

The assessment is broken up into two parts. The first part is timed, and you will have 10 minutes to complete it. The second section is untimed, and it will probably take you around 25 minutes to complete.

The first section of the assessment is made up of math and logic problems. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are a few sample questions:

"BOOK is to CHAPTER as ORGANIZATION is to"

"What is 15% of 200?"

"A delivery truck uses $375 in gasoline during a 3 week period. If the truck is driven 5 days per week, how much is spent on gas each day?"

The second part of the assessment is more than 200 questions, and they are mostly behavioral in nature. For example:

"Changing workplace procedures tends to be counterproductive."

"When I make a promise, you can count on it."

Answer each question honestly, and don't shy away from giving strong answers. Remember, Jack in the Box is trying to learn about who you are, not who you might be. Providing neutral or weak answers will not do you any favors.

As an additional tip: be honest, but if you get stuck, don't forget to consider why they're asking a particular question. What are they trying to learn about you?

Background check

During the application process, you will be asked to consent to a pre-employment background check. Any employment offers you receive are contingent upon passing this check.

Drug test

You will also need to consent to a pre-employment drug screening. Again, any employment offers you receive are contingent upon passing this test.
