For this application guide, we applied for an Accountant job. Though the application process is nearly identical for all Safeco jobs, you may find that your application experience varies a little bit from ours depending on the position that you are applying for.
Before you can fill out the Safeco application, you will need to register on their hiring site. To register, you will simply need to provide a username and a password. Many employers ask for all kinds of personal information just to create an account, and it's nice that Safeco only asks for the absolute minimum.
Once your account is setup, you will have the opportunity to upload your resume. Uploading your resume at this point is optional, but it's an option that you might want to take advantage of. If you provide it, Safeco's system will read through your resume and use the information it finds to fill in many of the application fields for you. This is a great time-saving feature, but make sure that you check behind it. While it worked perfectly for us, it's always possible that their program may put some information in the wrong fields. So take some time to make sure that everything is right before you submit your application.
Safeco will ask you to provide some basic information during the application process. This information includes your name, home address, phone number, email address, work experience, education, desired compensation, and certifications (if applicable). Before you begin your application, you should make sure that you have all of this information ready (including accurate employment dates). No matter how good we like to think our memories are, pinpointing the exact date that we started a job can be hard to do without doing a little research first.
After you provide your personal information, you will be asked to upload your resume and cover letter. If you haven't already, you should take some time to customize your resume and cover letter for the position that you are applying for. Not only will this help you demonstrate a legitimate interest in the position, but it will also help you explain exactly how your previous experiences have prepared you for the job.
Safeco does not provide automatic application updates at this time. If you have already applied for a position and would like to know if you are still being considered, you will need to contact the company directly.
Safeco is an equal opportunity employer.
