If you're the type of person who likes to walk into a store, hand off an application, and (hopefully) make a positive personal connection, you're in luck. The Trader Joe's Job Application Process

You can only apply online for management positions, but regardless, Trader Joe's has one of the best and easiest online application processes we've ever seen. If you already have your resume and cover letter prepared, you should be able to easily get through the whole application in 15 minutes or less. The online application is only one page. You'll need to provide your email address, personal information (like your address and phone number), education, and employment history. You will also have the opportunity to upload your resume and paste your cover letter. At the bottom of the application page there are four mandatory questions that will have to answer. They are: 1. Why do you want to work for Trader Joe's? Do some research here. Find out what makes Trader Joe's unique. What qualities and values do they value that you can relate to? 2. Which Trader Joe's stores are closest to you? This should be pretty simple. Just use the site's store locator. 3. Are you relocatable? If so, what areas of the country interest you? Be honest. 4. What is your favorite product and why? If you haven't been to Trader Joe's before, you should take a trip and check it out. Buy a few of their branded food items, and answer honestly. History

Trader Joe's was founded by Joe Coulombe. The business started as a convenience store, but Coulombe realized that competing with 7-Eleven and other similar chains would not end well for him or his company. The idea for Trader Joe's came after a trip to the Caribbean, when he realized that a lot of tourists developed a taste for new foods on vacation, but had nowhere to buy them at home. He wanted to provide people with an opportunity to buy different types of food than they would find in a typical grocery store. Trader Joe's began to expand outside of California in 1993, under the leadership of John Shields. The first expanded into Arizona, then the Pacific Northwest. It wasn't until 1996 that the first Trader Joe's was opened on the East Coast (just outside of Boston). Today, there are nearly 400 Trader Joe's locations across the United States (though roughly half of them are found in California).
