The Morgan Stanley Application Process

Morgan Stanley has one of the most applicant-friendly job applications that we have ever seen. They only collect the most essential information, which is a breath of fresh air in an age where most employers seem to want your life history documented in application form. If you already have your resume and cover letter prepared, the entire application should take you no more than 20 minutes to complete.

For this application guide, we applied for a job as a Product Strategy Analyst. Though the application process is the nearly identical for every position, you may find that your experience varies slightly from ours depending on the position that you apply for.

When you begin the Morgan Stanley application, you will need to provide some basic personal information including your name, home address, email address, phone number, current salary, desired compensation, and your available start date. While all of this information is pretty straightforward, you should do a little bit of research before entering a desired compensation. Obviously, you want to get as much as you can, but putting too large of a number here could disqualify you from consideration. Do some research using sites like GlassDoor and PayScale to find out what a realistic salary would be for the position.

After you enter your personal information, you will have the opportunity to upload your resume and cover letter. While neither document is technically required by their system (you can proceed without providing either if you *really* want to), we highly recommend that you provide both documents. Additionally, you should take some time to customize them for the position that you are applying for. Yes, it will take some time, but customizing these documents will make it clear that you are genuinely interested in the position, and it will give you the opportunity to demonstrate exactly how your previous experiences have prepared you for the job.

If you have any additional supporting documents (like transcripts, portfolios, or relevant certifications), you will have the chance to upload those as well. For most positions this will not be necessary, but the option is there if you need it.

Once all of your documentation is provided, you will have the opportunity to review your application before you submit it. Read over everything carefully, as no corrections can be made once you submit it.

Background check and drug test

By submitting your application to Morgan Stanley, you are consenting to a pre-employment background check and drug test. Any employment offer that you receive will be contingent upon passing both of tehse tests.
