The Valero Energy Application Process

For this application guide, we applied for a job as a Process Engineer. Though the application process is pretty much identical for all jobs, your experience may vary a little bit depending on the position that you are applying for.

Before you can begin the Valero job application, you will need to create an account on their hiring site. To register, you will need to provide a username, account password, and email address.

Once your account is created, you will have the opportunity to upload your resume. Uploading your resume is not required at this point, but doing so can save you a lot of time. Valero will read through your resume and use it to fill in many of the application fields for you. If you do choose to upload your resume, make sure that you read through your application very carefully before you submit it. Their program worked perfectly for us, but it's possible that it could make a mistake (and it would stink to submit an application with errors on it). If you choose not to provide your resume at this point, that's ok -- you can enter all of your information manually.

Over the course of the application, you will be asked to provide many different pieces of personal information including your name, home address, phone number, work authorization, education, and work experience. Before you begin the application, make sure that you have accurate education and employment dates. It can be easy to get mixed up over time, and these are things that are routinely checked during background checks or employment verifications.

Once your personal information is provided, you will need to fill out a brief questionnaire. The questionnaire will ask you some questions about your level of education, work experience, skills that are required for the job that your applying for, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and other similar questions that are used to determine if you meet the basic requirements for the position you're applying for.

Background check and drug test

During the application, you will need to consent to a pre-employment background check and drug test. Successfully passing these tests is a requirement for employment.
