Systems Engineer - Exchange, AD, SQL

The portfolio of IT services provided by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Division includes virtual server services for hosting applications, a virtual desktop infrastructure including zero/thin clients and desktop image development, file and print services, mobility services including device management, security services, network services including wireless and WAN connectivity and remote access, VoIP telephony and messaging services including instant messaging and email, storage area network services, data center management and business continuity/disaster recovery services. Iron Bow Systems Engineers will provide infrastructure and systems support to include, but not limited to, upgrades and changes to the system under the oversight of the government system owner. Additionally, as the needs of the Civil Division's customers evolve Iron Bow Systems Engineers will support the development and sustainment of any new systems deployed to meet customer requirements.

The Civil Division leverages industry standard commercial off the shelf products and cloud services to provide messaging and mobility services to their customers. The enterprise messaging system is hosted by Microsoft's Office 365 cloud offering. Over 2,700 mailboxes as well as contacts and distribution lists are hosted by Office 365. Veritas Enterprise Vault is used to store archived email and to meet eDiscovery requirements. Civil in conjunction with Justice Management Division (JMD) is responsible for system integration with the Office 365 cloud infrastructure. The latest version of Android is used on the mobile devices, EMC Airwatch is used for mobile device management and provisioning and Good Enterprise Mobility is used to provide messaging services on mobile devices. All services are redundant and replicated to a DR facility.


* Support/troubleshoot/update/monitor the health of the ADFS and Web Proxy servers that provide authentication for Office 365, and the ADFS server that provide authentication to enterprise Justice Applications

* Support/troubleshoot/update/monitor the health of the Enterprise Vault infrastructure and ensure access to the archived data

* Support/troubleshoot access issues to the Office 365 infrastructure and any security or message delivery failures that are experienced by department employees; work with JMD to put in place any required archive/journaling/retention policies on the mail infrastructure

* Support/troubleshoot/update/monitor the health of the Good Enterprise Mobility service; troubleshoot any client connectivity issues and monitor for Good NOC outages and communicate with the customer

* Support Android based mobile phones and tablets to include OS image development, troubleshooting, provisioning, upgrading, application research and deployment, security testing and software pushes

* Troubleshoot any Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) failures that MFD printers/copiers/scanners and other applications, for example monitoring, that leverage SMTP for providing informational messages

* Support/troubleshoot/update/monitor the health of the Active Directory infrastructure

* Work with Justice Management Division to troubleshoot any issues with directory synchronization to the Windows Azure instance supporting Office 365

* Provide LDAP integration services with any application owners that desire to use Active Directory as their identity source

* Maintain and troubleshoot any issues that manifest related to Active Directory integrated DHCP services

* Manage the Active Directory integrated DNS infrastructure including working with JMD to maintain appropriate SOA entries in Infoblox

* Manage scavenging and cleanup in the DNS infrastructure and support the VMware recompose process

* Support/monitor/troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory Integrated Certificate Services to ensure the use of department provided PIV cards to log into the network and access department applications and services


* B.S. in Information Technology (IT) or a closely related field

* Over ten years of experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting enterprise class IT systems

* U. S. citizen and able to obtain a minimum of Public Trust security clearance

* Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

* Working knowledge or experience with working with ticket- or incident- work order based tracking solution

* Experience implementing and troubleshooting Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL, and Exchange/Office 365

* Experience implementing and troubleshooting certificates and smart cards, and supporting services including DNS and DHCP

* Experience conducting Operating System patching using MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Quest KACE

* Experience with monitoring systems such as Solar Winds and certificate authorities
