Work With Us

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Senior Program Associate, Communications & Marketing Operations Management in our Washington, DC office. The Senior Program Associate provides marketing and event planning support for the recruitment and engagement functions of the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships (STPF) program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Manages STPF advertising, including researching editorial calendars, exploring, recommending and overseeing placements

* Contributes to annual and multi-year marketing strategy

* Contributes to project plans outlining tasks and processes, systems and resource requirements, timelines, and deliverables for prospect cultivation

* Tracks progress and performance and provides monthly data reports; analyzes, and compiles statistical data for marketing activities

* Monitors STPF and fellowship industry data to determine trends and utilize information to strategize enhancements for programmatic outreach activities, constituent development and engagement initiatives

* Serves as main point of contact for the marketing automation platform

* Oversees production schedules and development of various marketing collateral and campaigns including print and digital direct mail and promotional materials

* Contributes to creating and updating marketing presentations. Ensures adherence to STPF and AAAS branding policies and guidelines.

* Researches and edits correspondence, informational and marketing announcements and reports as necessary

* Schedules, organizes and coordinates all logistics for exhibits at conferences and presentations at AAAS annual meeting and other science and engineering conferences, career fairs and campus info sessions

* Staffs exhibit booths and presents on STPF programs and careers at the intersection of science and policy

* Develops and maintains marketing network lists, and maintains records on event attendance and outcomes

* Updates and assists in maintaining the programs' alumni directory and database

* Assists with budget preparation for function area, monitors expenditures, and prepares expense reports

* Supervises interns' duties as related to routine outreach activities as needed

* Additional duties as assigned

Key Requirements

* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; degree in public relations, marketing, communications preferred; Master's degree preferred

* 2- 4 years of experience managing marketing outreach campaigns including but not limited to production of marketing collateral, and advertising, coordinating outreach events

* Experience working with, or marketing to, the doctoral level science and engineering community a plus

* Strong internet research and database skills; extensive experience using a CRM platform

* Proficiency in Photoshop, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Analytics and Marketo or similar marketing automation platforms

* Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail and deadlines

* Professional and diplomatic manner; ability to work with individuals from different disciplinary and cultural backgrounds, to coordinate activity among staff and departments

* Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, set priorities for multiple projects, meet deadlines under pressure, and work both independently and as part of a team

* Excellent writing and editing skills, with a specific focus on marketing communications

* Must have experience planning and managing events

* May require some domestic travel
