You as the latest Principal Design Engineer member of our team will be integral to the design and development of many future Gatling Gun and crew served weapons and other electro-mechanical systems. The successful applicant will be a key contributor in a group that provides electrical design and production support to the development and manufacture of armament systems and subsystems.

New product development includes responsibility for determining the technical approach by developing and trading off design concepts that satisfy requirements and constraints, then developing labor and materials budgets and schedules. Design execution follows an engineering design process that includes subsystem requirements derivation and documentation, detail design and hardware development, verification of the design using modeling, simulation, analysis and test, documentation through formal reports, drawings and other technical data package items, and communication with the project team, labs and suppliers, customers and functional management.

Production support activities include real time troubleshooting and problem resolution, obsolescence analysis and solutions, communication with and support of sub-tier suppliers including contract electrical subsystem and cable assembly houses, engineering review of discrepant material, and support to the electrical commodity procurement team. These tasks will require periodic travel to our Saco, ME facility (estimated 25% of time in Saco).

Concerns itself with: electrical engineering design, interface definition, concept design of electrical system hierarchy, configuration item level design, test and verification, definition of performance requirements for electrical components, boxes and software, test equipment design and maintenance, interface definition including software and cable routing, technical oversight for design subcontract efforts and electrical component suppliers; development and production assignments, broad knowledge of electrical applications, hardware and software integration, system integration and test, evaluation and verification through testing, and formal problem root cause analysis and corrective action.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an applicable engineering, technical or science discipline. Six to eight years of relevant experience.
