Linux Admin (Entry Level)

As a member of the Enterprise Linux Operations Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and support of mission-critical Linux systems across the globe. You will be empowered to directly resolve problems, but will also be expected to effectively communicate complex issues with internal customers, internal engineering teams, as well as vendors. You will work directly with counterparts on the Storage, VMware, and application teams to maintain servers throughout their lifecycles including automation, deployment, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of systems.


  • Process automation and scripting
  • L1 Linux system incident support & troubleshooting
  • Open LDAP User account creation and management
  • Server builds & decomms
  • CHEF cookbook updating and deployment
  • Sudoers management
  • Local firewall (iptables) administration
  • Patching
  • VM resource scaling (ie – adding CPUs, RAM, disk space)
  • Following up on action items and problem tickets


  • 1+ years of Linux systems administration experience in medium to large enterprise or strong demonstrable AWS experience
  • Associates or BS / BA Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or 2+ years of Linux systems administration experience in lieu of degree
  • Passion for open systems
  • Strong learning Agility to facilitate picking up new skills
  • Basic understanding of core networking concepts and IT infrastructure
  • Basic understanding of core protocols such as SMTP, HTTPS, SFTP, and SSH
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated / Self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RHCSA or Linux+ Certification
  • VMware or other virtualization/containerization platform experience
  • AWS (or other public cloud) experience
  • Experience with one of the following: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, RedHat Satellite, Katello
  • RHEL 7 experience
