Rooted in the Law School's values and tradition of social justice, academic freedom, personal integrity and professional ethics, the overarching mission of the International Human Rights Clinic at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles ("IHRC" or "clinic") is to contribute to the attainment of the fullest exercise of human rights by all human beings throughout the world. In carrying out this mission, the IHRC aims to maximize the use of global and regional legal and political institutions through litigation, advocacy and capacity-building.

Loyola Law School is accepting applications for the position of staff attorney in the International Human Rights Clinic. The position is open to be filled immediately.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

The staff attorney will work together with the Director to provide an education opportunity for Loyola Law School students to gain vital knowledge and skills for effective and successful legal advocacy on behalf of victims of human rights abuses. Through the strategic use of international and regional mechanisms for the protection of human rights, the staff attorney will provide legal assistance and empowers victims of human rights violations, and the organizations representing them, to utilize international and regional mechanisms.

Experience/Qualifications:

Candidates for the staff attorney position must possess tenacity and dedication, outstanding lawyering skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, a successful track record of working effectively with diverse and vulnerable client populations, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential. Professionalism is paramount, including an ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and seek guidance when appropriate. The ideal candidate should possess at least one year of practice experience. Candidates must also have a desire to mentor law students in an in-house clinical program.

Required Education:

Juris Doctorate

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

Must be a licensed attorney to practice in California.
