Meany Center has an outstanding opportunity for a 50% FTE Database Administrator. We are seeking an individual with a strong SQL database administration and application support skills preferably in the performing arts with Tessitura software experience as well as desktop support experience.

Tessitura is multifaceted SQL database software for ticketing, fundraising, memberships, marketing, reporting, customer relationship management, web transactions, and custom capabilities.

This position is a member of a collaborative IT department that also includes a 50% FTE IT Administrator. Together, these two positions provide IT Services and Database Administration/Application in support of Meany Center. Working under the general supervision of the Managing Director, this individual is responsible for the Tessitura database system and its applications and supporting the Finance, Fundraising, Marketing & ticketing departments in the use of Tessitura. Also secondary support for desktop support; other duties as assigned.

Tessitura (ticketing software) Database Administration/Application Support (85%)

• Provide Tessitura software client-server application support and database administration

• Develop and maintain complex reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

• Create and maintain custom stored procedures, views, tables, etc. as necessary for client support

• Create, maintain and modify reports in SSRS for use in Tessitura. (Limited number of reports in Infomaker)

• Create, modify and maintain processes that export/import data to and from external sources

• Develop test plans for upgrades and project manage upgrade process

• Provide Tessitura and associated application training assistance for the staff

• Collaborate with users to develop processes, reports and data analysis tools that maximize Tessitura’s capabilities

• Document Tessitura customizations

• Enroll users in and maintain the Tessitura system security

• Participate in Tessitura application development processes to facilitate good database design and access

• Liaison to Tessitura Network for reporting and resolving Tessitura software bugs

• Participate in Seattle Tessitura community to stay current on Seattle arts community business practices

Working with the IT Administrator (10%)

• Install Tessitura software and upgrades

• Troubleshoot and maintain Microsoft SQL 2008 databases

• Plan, prepare and test backup and recovery procedures for all production databases

• Monitor production databases for efficiency

Desktop Support (secondary support) (5%)

• Installations, upgrades, troubleshooting and ongoing support of desktop computers, printers and peripherals.

• Maintain and enhance as required all PCs and Macs; administer machines to provide reliable campus network access, internet access and current application installations.

• Upgrade and enhance applications and operating systems software as required by departmental and campus requirements.


• BS in computer science or equivalent experience in computer science or related field.

• Two or more years of database experience.

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and T-SQL – including the creation and maintenance of stored procedures, views and tables

• Experience in SQL based reporting tools such as SSRS/ Visual Studio

• Possesses high level of initiative, strong leadership and project management skills.

• Superior interpersonal communication skills supporting staff of various levels of technical expertise and background

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

• Experience in help desk or direct desktop support

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.


• Experience with Tessitura or other SQL based ticketing systems

• Working knowledge PCI Data Security Standard and application in a web environment

• Experience programming in Microsoft .NET and ASP, AJAX and HTML


Work Schedule:

• Daily schedule to be discussed; during normal business hours which includes overlap hours with IT Administrator.

• Must occasionally be available to work off-hours to deal with serious service outages, and have the ability to monitor services during evenings and weekends, as well as meet deadlines and accomplish projects that require greater than normal working hours.
