The Captain is responsible for flight operations of Maui Jim’s Gulfstream G450.

In order of importance, the principal responsibilities and duties of this position are:


Works within Maui Jim Flight Operations to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service.

Acts as Pilot in Command in company aircraft, as required.

Ensures reliability, safety, service, and security of flight operations and maintains legal compliance with all regulations and company policies.

Takes action on and distributes accident, incident, and other occurrence reports.

Directs the activities of the Second in Command ensuring that flight crewmembers understand fully and completely what duties they are expected to perform.

Makes decisions, as necessary, to the start, delay, or cancellation of the flight, or deviation from a planned destination when operating conditions dictate.

Prepares or supervises preparation of flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise control data, airport facilities, and navigational aids.

Performs tasks associated with operating the aircraft while away from home base.

Ensures that a flight plan, or other authorized flight locating procedures, is followed on each flight.

Reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Flight Department Manager.

Ensures that crewmembers brief all passengers with the appropriate briefing for each phase of flight.

Assures all required passenger ground handling and transportation is in place.

Responsible for the custody and care of disembarking passengers and crewmembers until accepted by the state of entry on international flights.

Completes relevant trip paperwork at the conclusion of the flight.

Required Skills


College degree or equivalent experience


ATP, type rating in company aircraft

English proficient

Restricted radio Telephone Operator Permit

Valid automobile driver’s license

Valid U.S. passport


Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate Annually

Flight Time:

7500 hours total time

3000 hours multi engine turbo fan jet


Ten years Pilot and/or management experience


Knowledge of the Flight Operations Manual, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures, and the provisions of the federal aviation regulations and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
