The Manager APP provides direction and administrative leadership for Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) in their defined geographic area and/or medical or surgical divisions within Baylor Scott & White Health System, to enable APPs to fulfil their essential roles with expected outcomes. Helps coordinate educational programs for APPs within the region and specialty. The Advanced Practice Professional serving in this role will have designated administrative time at the discretion of their supervising physician and regional administration.


Directly manage a group of APPs, to include hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance management, while collaborating closely with physicians leaders and the Regional Practice Administrator on all of the above

Partner with the APP Practice Administrator regarding any pertinent APP related issues

Provides patient services under the delegation of supervising physician and/or the designated supervising staff physician, including obtaining medical and personal histories, performing physical exams, educating patients and families, and prioritizing and assessing patients and other delegated and/or credentialed duties. Interview and examines patients to determine each patient's symptoms and prepares patient database to create or update patient files

Performs comprehensive examinations and appropriate medical screening procedures and accurately, clearly, and concisely dictate or record complete and accurate information in patient records

Completes and/or assist in the formulation of diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up plans and/or treatment protocols as appropriate

Interprets laboratory data as appropriate, and order appropriate laboratory investigations while following established protocols and/or delegation

Follows up on patient status and diagnostic tests as appropriate and report relevant information to supervising physician

Communicate with patient, supervising physician, and other patient caregivers in a clear and concise manner any information that may influence the patient's care, treatment program or well-being. Including preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation in accordance with Baylor Scott & White Health policies

Promote appropriate utilization of APPs throughout the region or specialty

Knowledge of Federal and State of Texas laws and legislation pertaining to medical board and nursing board governance of APPs

Knowledge of Joint Commission mandates regarding APP practice in hospitals and clinics

Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of medical staff and personnel; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules

Requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems, or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/division lines

Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment

Knowledge of computer systems, Electronic Health Records, Databases, Excel, Word

Knowledge of national and state APP issues, preferred active in national and state professional organizations

Knowledge of current system and institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements preferred

Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiation required
