UTC Aerospace Systems is a global supplier of systems and services in the aerospace and defense markets with one of the most strategically diversified portfolios of products in the industry. The Sensors and Integrated Systems (SIS) division located in Cheshire, Connecticut has a full time position for the site Human Resources Manager.

Responsibilities include:

* Oversee a staff of one (1) direct report to achieve business and functional goals.

* Full site HR responsibilities for approximately 280 total employees consisting of 90 salary and 190 hourly bargaining unit employees.

* Member of the site leadership team as the HR leader.

* Partner with senior business leadership to plan and execute both business and human resources, short and long term, strategies.

* Manage multiple projects and processes within the human resources and industrial relations functions.

* Lead strategic initiatives in addition to managing at the tactical level, as needed.

* Flawlessly execute key human resources processes for client groups including talent management, organizational design, leadership development, diversity workforce initiatives, performance management, industrial relations, employee relations, and salary planning, incentive compensation.

* Act as the representative of the company in the grievance procedure, 3rd party disputes and union negotiations for two collective bargaining agreements.

* Provide direction on organizational design, talent management and workforce planning, with a focus on succession planning and skill gaps.

* Provide and support effective coaching, counseling, investigation and progressive disciplinary strategies regarding employee relations issues.

* Provide assistance to the business on employee engagement feedback and planning, identifying areas of focus and working on actions to increase engagement.

* Collaborate with the HR central functions to ensure the delivery of integrated services, including talent management, benefits, compensation, etc.

* Monitor performance management programs and provide support and guidance to managers/employees on performance issues and assessment tools.

* Work with the finance organization to manage monthly headcount compliance to ensure site meets the identified plan.

* Ensure that all governance and compliance issues are investigated, addressed and managed appropriately; communicate and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, keep abreast of legal requirements, including federal and state government regulations/reporting requirements.

* Other duties as assigned.


* The SIS Cheshire site is unionized by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) with two local lodges. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a unionized environment, dispute resolution and have strong analytical skills.

* UTC human resources and industrial relations experience preferred.

* Ideal candidate will have 10+ years of Human Resource experience in increasing roles of responsibility.

* Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a role supporting senior leadership and central functions.

* Must be able to work independently under guidance within a matrixed organization.

* Must be able to work well under pressure, have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing business environments and priorities.

* Strong industrial relations, employee relations, interpersonal, verbal and written communication and influencing skills are required.

* U.S. Person status required.

* 10% or less travel may be required for this position.

Education Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field.

Master of Business Administration or similar advanced degree preferred.
