Parsons is now hiring a Principal Drainage Engineer for several key design-build and Public Private Partnership (P3) projects located in Virginia, DC and Maryland.

We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.

The candidate must be a Professional Engineer, holdingprofessional licenses in some or all of the jurisdictions of Virginia, theDistrict of Columbia, and Maryland, or at minimum have the ability to obtainlicensure in those jurisdictions by reciprocity. The candidate must demonstrateproficiency to oversee engineering design and planning projects, and beintimately familiar with drainage system design, stomwater management design,and erosion & sediment control design support for linear transportation projects.The candidate must have knowledge of current stormwater permitting requirementsfor transportation projects in Virginia, the District of Columbia, andMaryland, with experience with obtaining stormwater permit approval fromgovernment regulatory agencies. The candidate should have experience withhydrologic watershed modeling, and the analysis/design of hydraulic crossingsof roadways. The candidate must demonstrate experience with the preparation ofdesign drawings, specifications, and engineering cost estimates pertaining tothe drainage design discipline, in cooperation with other transportation designdisciplines. The candidate should be familiar with Hydraulic Engineer Circularsissued by FHWA, and Design Manuals issued by VDOT, DDOT and Maryland SHA aswell as localities in those jurisdictions. The candidate should demonstrateproficiency with design software such as MicroStation V8i, AutoCAD and AutoCADCivil 3D a plus, GeoPAK including GeoPAK Drainage, InRoads, Bentley Flowmaster,Bentley CulvertMaster, Bentley StormCAD, Bentley SewerCAD, HY8, TR-55, TR-20,and HEC-RAS.


* 4-year Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

* 10-15 years of related work experience.

* Professional Engineer registration is required.

* Potential to perform in a lead capacity

* Excellent written and oral communications skills

* Familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.

* Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
